| A special rescue took place right here across from our station when one of our resident ospreys became sick and was no longer able to fly. The osprey was found walking between the station and Delta Place, where members of CCSD stepped in to keep watch and help care for the bird while waiting for assistance from Owl Moon Raptor Center.
When Owl Moon arrived, they provided the osprey with a thorough examination, fluids, and nourishment. After spending several days in their care, the osprey regained its strength and was ready to return to the skies.
Last Friday morning, the osprey was successfully released by Billy Rios with the help of SMECO’s boom truck.
We are grateful for the teamwork and compassion shown by everyone involved in helping this local wildlife resident. A big thank you to CCSD, Owl Moon Raptor Center, SMECO, Billy Rios, and all departments and individuals who assisted with this unique rescue.
It’s another reminder of what a caring community we have—always willing to lend a hand, even when that hand belongs to an osprey. 🦅 |
